Crime Prevention

Crime Prevention

The majority of crimes are property related rather than being against people. These include vehicle theft, criminal damage and burglary.

Some simple steps can help with crime prevention including:

  • locking your doors and windows and removing the keys from the lock
  • upgrading the locks on your doors or windows
  • ensuring that sheds or outbuildings are secure
  • locking your car and ensuring that windows and sun roofs are closed
  • not leaving items in an unoccupied vehicle
  • storing your vehicle in a garage if you have one
  • don’t leave valuable items in clear view of windows

When planning a night out, think ahead to help with your personal safety:

  • Make sure your mobile phone is fully charged
  • Consider how you are going to get home
  • Don’t drink too much
  • Don’t leave drinks unattended
  • Stick with your friends
